Supper and dinner

Sharing bread

"How can we not to share the Lord's supper when we can have dinner together?" Loud applause followed the sharp question posed to the world mission conference at its last plenary session by Johnson Asamoah-Gyadu, a Methodist pastor and theologian from Ghana.

Asamoah-Gyadu shared his thoughts as a member of a group of 'listeners' who were entrusted with the task of reflecting on the conference in order to provide a sort of collective feed-back to the participants.

Another member of the 'listerners' group, Dieter Becker, a Lutheran theologian from Germany, emphasized the emotionally moving testimonies that deeply touched him, as well as the atmosphere of pilgrimage and festival marking the conference.

Methodist theologian Nam-Soon Kang from South Korea pointed out the difficulties implied in the dominance of the English language throughout the proceedings, and asked for a more justice- and context-oriented methodology.

A written report from all the 'listeners' will be available in the conference official report.
